Duo's vocalist Maria expresses surprise at announcement
On Tuesday, composer Yoshinori "toku" Abe made an announcement on GARNiDELiA's official website that the music duo is taking an indefinite hiatus. As per the announcement, all concerts scheduled for this year's "GARNiDELiA stellacage tour 2025 [PROGRESS]" have been canceled.
Maria Mizuhashi, one half of the duo, reacted an hour after the announcement with a post that read "E-!?" (Eh!?). Two hours later, she explained that she had not been informed about the announcement beforehand, which caught her off guard. She apologized for any confusion caused and promised to provide more details once the situation had been resolved and the appropriate time had come. For now, she stated that she loved Garnidelia and was committed to preserving music, dignity, and love.
Maria posted later in the afternoon that she had received reports from a third party stating that she had not been fairly compensated by her agency for her work over the past few years. She also mentioned that she sometimes felt overwhelmed and cried uncontrollably due to her busy schedule. Maria stated that she had reached her physical and mental limits and requested a reduction in her workload. However, she ultimately decided to terminate her contract with the agency through her lawyer in August.
Maria stated that she desired to have a direct conversation with Toku without any agency interference regarding their future together. Unfortunately, this discussion did not occur before the unexpected hiatus announcement was made public. Maria emphasized that her intentions were not aimed at confronting her fellow member, and kindly requested that individuals refrain from using harsh language towards Toku. ( link ) , Oricon ( link )
