Road follows investigation of gruesome cross-border serial murder case
On September 11th, it was disclosed by Netflix that they have approved the production of their upcoming crime thriller series, temporarily titled "Road". Seok-gu Son (from "A Killer Paradox") will be starring in this series. Additionally, Netflix unveiled the main cast and crew involved in this project.
The future program will be inspired by Purungil - Ao no Michi (Blue Road), a 2002 collaborative comic written by Keishi Edogawa and illustrated by Kaya Kwon. This five-part series combined elements of hard-boiled crime stories with themes of cultural conflict and international cooperation, making it stand out among its contemporaries.
The upcoming project marks the first live-action adaptation of the comic.
An inquiry into a heinous transnational murder series is being conducted by authorities in Tokyo when they come across a grotesque body with a Korean message written in blood. Following this discovery, another grisly scene emerges in South Korea with a Japanese message close to the victim. These eerie coincidences prompt law enforcement agencies in both nations to conclude that the crimes are connected, prompting two detectives-one from Korea and one from Japan-to collaborate in their pursuit of the perpetrator.
In the show, a character is depicted as a Korean detective, with Eita Nagayama playing the equivalent role in Japan. Along with Shin-rok Kim (from Hellbound ), Sung-eun Cho, and Jae-young Jung, they make up the cast of characters.
Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the live-action adaptation.
