Lunch Banchō Hitomi launches on October 17
Last Friday, it was announced that Masayuki Kusumi and Ryō Amei will launch their new manga series titled Lunch Banchō Hitomi in the 21st issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine on October 17. Lunch Banchō Hitomi follows Hitomi Shinōsaka, who uses his "lunch antenna" instincts to find good and sweet smelling restaurants for lunch.
Kusumi is known for writing several mangas related to culinary arts, but his most famous work is Solitary Gourmet which he created with
Jiro Taniguchi. They initially published this manga in Monthly Panja magazine from 1994 to 1996. Later, Fusosha released the second volume of this manga in September 2015. Solitary Gourmet inspired nine live-action TV series, several TV specials featuring
Yutaka Matsushige, and even a live-action film that premiered in Japan on January 10th.
In November 2017, a net anime adaptation of the manga was launched on the "Tate Anime" (Vertical Anime) app from
Production I.G.
The company has announced that it plans to launch the manga series in English. Although they initially stated that it would most likely happen in spring 2021, it is now listed as coming out at that time. (
