KOMACON and Bucheon City are hosting a conference with assistance from Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization. The theme of this year's conference is "Webtoons Go Global," which will focus on the increasing global influence of K-webtoons in transmedia adaptations.
The presenters at this event are Jung-sook Jang from Redice Studio in Korea, Faris Alrushoud from Manga Arabia in the Middle East, and Ana Paula Ribeiro from Infinitoon in South America. They will discuss industry trends in their respective regions. Rainer, a popular YouTuber and critic, will give a keynote address on webtoon IP competitiveness and will moderate subsequent panel discussions.
Additionally, the software will discuss how global online streaming services and international broadcasting systems impact the future direction of webtoons, as well as the growing popularity of film and television adaptations based on webtoon source material.
There will be a conference on September 25 that focuses on how AI can be used with webtoon content. People can register either beforehand or on site, and some attendees will receive prizes if they register in advance through OnOffMix.
