The Exit 8 horror game's live-action film dropped to #3 in 3rd weekend
According to recent reports, the first film in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy, titled "Akaza Sairai," has reached the top spot in its ninth weekend at the box office. During this time frame, it sold approximately 523,000 tickets and generated a revenue of about US$5.65 million (829,888,500 yen).
As of Monday, September 15th, the movie had sold 23,042,671 tickets for a revenue of 33,056,606,000 yen (approximately US$224 million). This places it as the second highest-grossing movie in Japan's box office history, surpassing Spirited Away by Studio Ghibli, which earned 31,680,000,000 yen (about US$315 million in 2001's yen-dollar conversion) and became the #2 highest-earning movie in Japan at that time.
The movie "Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Mugen Train" from the "Demon Slayer" franchise has become the highest-grossing film in Japan as of October 2020, with a total of approximately US$277 million in current conversion after earning 40.75 billion yen in Japan. It surpassed "Spirited Away," which was previously the highest-grossing film in Japan, just two months after its release in Japan in December 2020.

It sold 672,000 tickets and made 960,867,600 yen (about US$6.46 million) within the first three days. Now, this movie holds the record for the highest earnings during its first three days for a live-action film in Japan in 2025.
During the Cannes Film Festival on May 19th, the movie made its global debut with a standing ovation that lasted for eight minutes. ( link ) During its presentation at the Cannes Film Festival, the movie's promotional image was awarded the Prix Luciole for Best Poster design.
In addition to being shown at the Toronto International Film Festival's Centrepiece Section from September 4th to 14th, as well as at SITGES - International Fantastic Film Festival in Spain from October 9th to 19th.
